Surprisingly Enjoyable! 7/10

Review: I really thought that this was going to be a typical Disney movie about fairies and magic dust, but I really enjoyed it. Although the storyline is based around Sleeping Beauty, I found it quite dark with some adult content. The CGI throughout the movie looked impressive and Angelina Jolie played her part extremely well. After being betrayed by her loved one, she turns quite evil and full of hate, but once Aurora comes into the picture, you get to see an inner sweetness which made her character entertaining and a joy to watch. Pieced together with Sharlto Copley playing the villain, this movie really did have every aspect covered and I'm not surprised that it made so much money at the box office. A Great Watch!

Round-Up: Angelina Jolie really doesn't make that many movies anymore, but when she comes out of the woodwork, she really does come out with some good movies. From Changeling to the action packed Wanted, she really does have a versatile acting ethic and with all of her charitable work and her hectic family life, I'm not surprised that making movies is low down on her priority list. I liked the chemistry between her character and Sam Riley, who played the crow, and the action scenes were very well thought out by the director. Personally, I don't think that it's a movie for the young ones because there are some scenes that will give them nightmares, but there are some scenes they will enjoy, like her magical land and the amazing creatures. In all, I'm surprised that I enjoyed the movie because I really wasn't expecting something so dark.

I was just looking to see if has been released yet. If I recall correctly at TIFF Patricia, and Sir. Ben mentioned that the movie had been picked up.

All I can say is that you have to see this movie. The dialogue, the banter and the chemistry is truly incredible. It has its serious moments but it also has moments that will have you laughing hysterically.

I am really glad I picked this movie, and I can tell you it was deserving of being the runner up for fan favourite. After the Imitation Game and that is supposed to be an Oscar Shoe in.

Typical characters with an average and predicable story

I'm a big fan of Romantic movies and the odd cringey film but i found this so typical and predictable. For the first time ever even i managed to predict the end which wasn't worth the build up created by the rest of the film. During scenes that were supposed to be emotional and sad i found myself laughing at how unrealistic they were.

The cast is slightly confusing. Maybe i can believe that the younger Amanda grows up to be Michelle Monaghan but i don't understand the thinking behind Young Dawson and James Marsden. Not only do they look nothing alike but Young Dawson doesn't even look young enough to be with Young Amanda.

I found myself much preferring the scenes with the young Dawson and Amanda in comparison with the older cast because i just found them so annoying. Michelle Monaghan's character seemed far to perfect with the typical problems with her perfect life.

Being the only two people in the cinema at the time, myself and my friend should have taken this as a hint. This is definitely no Notebook or Walk to remember.

Egads! I'm reluctant to tell you I enjoyed The Age of Adeline, a dramatic romance that reeks of Nicholas Sparks except when it doesn't. Adaline (Blake Lively) is 29 years old forever due to a freak occurrence of nature. As poets have always predicted, such a blessing has some regret as the ones she loves pass away and as she dare not commit to anyone because of her curse.

Much of this fantasy depends on the sentimental lingering of Adaline as she reviews her more than century of life without permanent love. Where I found a core of true humanity without sentimentality is in the latter half of the film as Adaline faces committing to an attractive, intelligent, and charitable philanthropist, Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman). Once again she faces the urge to leave because of her curse, but he and his family, notably the excellent Harrison Ford as his father, William, make her pause to consider letting go of her agelessness.

And so must we pause to consider how poets like Browning opined that the gods were jealous of mankind because of our ability to love and suffer, at, of course, the cost of our lives. But then Jesus Christ chose the imperfect route to redeem our sins. Not a bad reason yet it still holds the pain of death. This film at least makes us consider whether or not we would wish to live like Adeline, constantly running from reality unable to hold anyone but her aging daughter, Flemming (always excellent Ellen Burstyn), and Adaline's dog. Watch out for Harrison Ford's best performance ever as a father caught in the web of time and a Trivial Pursuit game that shows us all how it should be played.

Realists might better stay home than face the usual romantic absurdities like how the substantial Ellis could so quickly fall in love with Adaline (called Jenny at this time in her life) or how the sentimental ending could have sunk a less intelligent film. Yet, the Twilight Zone could have produced such a fantasy, and I never complained about Rod Serling's manipulations.

While at the end the film gives in to sap of the usual romance kind, it regularly rises above the trite to tackle the eternal puzzle of life, love, and romance. Besides, who doesn't want to consider embracing the joys of aging, wrinkles and death?...

Looking for a romantic getaway, but can't afford a trip to Paris, Hawaii, or the Poconos? How about a trip to your neighborhood movie theater to see a film based on a Nicholas Sparks novel? He has published 18 books, most of which have been romance novels and 10 of those have been adapted for the big screen. With Nicholas Sparks, you get a romantic story that takes many years to unfold. (And sometimes it's two stories for the price of one!) The romance usually involves two very different people you wouldn't normally expect to get together. Yet, one of them, usually the man (believe it or not), expresses his love in writing, also usually over a long period of time. You're likely to get to see the scenery of the great state of North Carolina, oh, and the guy is probably going to go to war at some point (World War II as often as not). And, you might even get a surprise ending at no extra charge! Just be forewarned, at least one of the main characters is probably going to die before the movie is over. (Kleenex not provided.)

Beautiful but deep enough?

I loved the old Cinderella movie and was quite interested in seeing how this one turned out. It's somewhat more realistic in some ways but mostly follow the old storyline anyways. There is magic too, so no worry.. The last part of the story differs a bit though and feels more "Disney" than the last one. The feeling of a great Disney movie is there - but I would have preferred a more dramatic twist in the story.I feel like this was more of a children's story than the old movie,a bit too smooth for my style. I liked that the old movie was suitable for all ages - this one was interesting enough for adults, but not quite "deep" enough to make for a interesting story in my taste.

100 Shades of Terrible.

I was in the mood for a great film about a young girl who meets a successful and seductive businessman with sexy results. This was not the case. This film was purely awful. No one can blame me for not being in the right frame of mind for the cinema, as some reviewers are. They see a film and end up having a bad night and they put the entire blame on the film, this is not the case for me. I was in a positive frame of mind, and really in the mood to see what I thought would be a somewhat good if not better than mediocre film.

This film is about two people who have no chemistry "falling" for each other. "Falling" like off a three story balcony leaving you without the use of your legs for the rest of your life. I'm just going to be blunt. This film is about GLORIFYING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and a little girl in over her head who tolerates it. The man in the relationship, Chris, in a career-ending performance portrayed by Jamie Doormat, is a control-freak who must be in control in everything he does, including the life of his BDSM buddy, Ana.

Not only does he creep onto her, HE BEATS HER, non-consensually while they have intercourse, he stalks her, HE INTIMIDATES HER and he shows no love for her. If this were any other film, he would be the antagonist. If you're in the mood for a movie that shows what true love is, I suggest you see Mrs. Doubtfire, as that film is about a loving family man who shows his dedication and support to his wife, even after they are separated, and his children, by dressing up as an elderly female babysitter.

Great comedic fun!!!

In the modern day movie world, it's rather hard to stumble upon a good comedy movie that's not slam packed with extremely gay gestures and ignorant comedy (in which typically rely on verbally profound shock value to ease them by). Therefor for myself, personally I've seen very few comedies that I really could get into over the past several years. Well this movie just changed that for me, and it also brought back my hope for seeing more raw (straight from the heart) comedy movies. Kevin Hart's performance in this flick was on point. He hit every scene in the most appreciable way possible. If you are (or were) an Adam Sandler fan when he was in his prime, and you enjoyed his wild, moody eruptions, and peculiar, sporadic, behavior, then I think you will agree after viewing this film that Kevin Heart can definitely relate. This isn't the kind of comedy to sit down with your family and watch (due to the strong language in certain scenes, and moderate nudity) but, if you like raw, oddball comedies, with non-stop "laugh out loud" punchlines, then this movie will suit you perfectly. Grab some popcorn and a drink, get you better half to sit down with you and make it a date night. This one will really bring out the good spirits as you will both be laughing uncontrollably throughout this whole flick. ENJOY!
